Control Box
Wiring, components, and architecture of the control box.
The Control Box is the main subsystem that hosts the power delivery, balancing control, and safety cut-off wiring. The box provides an interface to the motor controller and the safety/power switches
Components
| Component | Part | Link | Functionality |
|---|---|---|---|
| Motor Controller | VESC 6 MKII | Link | Drives motor, runs balancing firmware. |
| IMU Sensor | DMU11 IMU | Link | Provides orientation data for balancing control. |
| Signal Converter | RS422 → TTL Converter | Link | Converts IMU RS422 output to TTL for the Motor Controller (VESC). |
| Battery Management | JFBMS32 | Link | Monitors, balances, and protects battery cells from over voltage and cell voltage mismatches. |
| Battery Pack | 6S LiPo x 3 | Link | Energy source (~72 V nominal) for hub motor and logic systems. |
| Inrush Protection | AntiSpark Circuit | Link | Limits current surge when connecting high-voltage battery to the VESC. |
| Emergency Stop | E-Stop Switch | Link | Cuts drive enable signal when pressed, immediate system shutdown. |
| Power Control | Power Switch | Link | Main on/off switch, routes power through the AntiSpark circuit to the VESC. |
